Massive Cleaning and a Mari Milestone

This week I think I finally caught my second trimester energy boost. It's about time! I had been planning a massive overhaul of Micah's bedroom and the girls' room. They have been a mess for a long time and it seemed my attempts to help clean only lasted a few hours at best. I was getting fed up.

On Monday I hauled everything out of Micah's room - and by everything I mean all he had left in there was a stripped bed, an empty dresser, an empty bookshelf, and a few hanging clothes in the closet. We sorted, organized, purged, cleaned, and rearranged. The room looks great, it should be easier to maintain and he loves it.

On Wednesday I did the same thing with Hailey and Mari's room. It was a disaster. Their room is still a work in progress because of the sheer volume of junk I pulled out of there. Thankfully, Hailey is in the mood to get rid of a lot and we have, though honestly it has been a lot of paper and just paring down various "collections" - dress up clothes, jewelry, doll clothes, stuffed animals, etc.

But since we were at it, we decided to take down the crib and set up the toddler bed for Mari. Oh my, was she excited. She kept repeating, "My new bed!" over and over again. Then she would climb in and pretend to sleep for a few seconds before grabbing the next person to show her new bed to. So cute. I wasn't sure it was going to last though. She was going to actually have to fall asleep there and something told me she wouldn't be like her big sister who never got out of bed at night or even in the morning until someone came to get her.

Mari did pretty good for her first night. She did get up quite a bit, but settled down when Matt put the pack 'n play up right next to her bed and told her if she got up again that was where she would sleep. She woke up pretty early too and Hailey came in around 6 to inform us that Mari was up and was waking her up. But all in all it was a good first night. She didn't fair so well at her first nap time. I didn't give her much leeway and she ended up in the pack 'n play right away. Maybe tomorrow she will stay put.
