She uses it out of the blue. "I love you too, Momma" is a random announcement in her day. She uses is when she is playing and laughing with her dad, "I love you too, daddy." It is said with a gleam in her eye and mischief in her voice. Sometimes they come when I am on the brink of frustration with ups and downs of toddler behavior. Sometimes they come in tender moments.
These words come without the spoken "I love you" from mom or dad preceding them. While I'm not sure that it could be considered intentional, these words speak volumes to me about security. To know, without question, that one is loved and to love in return. "I love you too" is a beautiful expression of faith and trust, childlike faith at its finest. Words I need to use more with my husband, my kids, and my Heavenly Father.
