This summer I again had the opportunity to go to Chicago for a mission trip. Our theme this year was Greater Things based on "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." John 14:12.
My team did VBS in Skokie which proved to be an interesting mesh of cultures, languages, and people. One of the parents I met explained it this way. In their daughter's grade school they consider it a language spoken if 5 families in the school speak it at home as their primary language. Then at the beginning of the year they parade in flags to represent the student body population. They limit the representation to the top 25 languages. That to me is almost unfathomable.
It was once again a wonderful experience that had its joys and challenges. I am thankful for the opportunity to go and the kids had a wonderful week with grandma and grandpa.
