My daughter went to summer camp and brought back...pink eye! That may be the most memorable part of Hailey's summer camp experience for me, but probably not for her. She had a wonderful two night stay at a local Lutheran camp at the end of June/beginning of July. It was one of the first times she really stayed somewhere without any family and she did great. I didn't expect her to suffer from homesickness and she didn't at all. It helped that she had been to this camp several times before, and that she knew two of her cabin mates - friends she had made at camp last year who just so happen to be the daughters of my friends from my hometown. They swam, hiked, had a "late-night" dance party in their cabin, won clean cabin, had campfire and all the camp fun.
You can sort of see her swollen left eye in this last picture. It was the first thing I noticed. We went from camp to urgent care to the pharmacy for eye drops and an oral antibiotic because of the swelling under her eye. Things seemed to clear up pretty quickly with the medication. Fun times!
