So, while I've been working on the little things inside our home, Matt has been working hard outside. He ordered a peach tree, blueberry bushes, and strawberry roots and all of them have had to be planted this spring. The peach tree has already been in for several weeks and is starting to leaf out nicely. But the strawberries and blueberries still needed to go in.
But first the prep work had to be done...
Hostas anyone? We removed a row of hostas that were along the garden fence. The blueberries will go there. These hostas are huge and there are a lot of them! It doesn't help that everything is about a month ahead of schedule due to the warm March we had. We've given away over half of the hostas so far and hopefully the rest will find their home soon.
Here's what it looked like last night - four blueberry bushes planted and mulch on, but not yet spread.
We have a raised bed in the back corner which we decided to turn into an strawberry patch. However, we have rabbits, so we decided it needed a fence to keep them out. Hailey and Micah loved helping out and then pretending they were animals behind the fence. Micah was a cow and Hailey was a variety of animals. Hopefully the strawberry roots will get planted before the end of the week.
And a couple of more photos of my goofy kids!
