We had a lovely Valentine's Day this year. I never really cared about Valentine's day until I had kids. Now it is fun. We make homemade valentines, delicious meals, and fun desserts. For us it isn't about spending money or gifts, though we do gifts on occasion, it is more about celebrating our family.
This year, Hailey picked out her valentines from Pinterest. That is a glow stick if you can't tell.
Thanks to inspiration (pinspiration?) from Pinterest, I made a date jar for Matt and I. Each heart has a date idea for us to have a date night once a month. All are inexpensive, and most are at home dates. I'm looking forward them.
Matt brought me home hydrangeas, which totally surprised me. And I made a "fancy" dinner of balsamic glazed pork loin, potatoes, and broccoli. The recipe for the balsamic glazed pork loin will be this week's favorite foods Friday post. For dessert, I made my caramel cupcakes, you can find the recipe here. I decided to try and make heart shaped cupcakes by using a marble to indent the paper liner. I wasn't too impressed with how well it worked, but I did get a few decent heart shapes.
Hope you had a happy Valentine's Day!
