Happy NLSW!

Happy National Lutheran Schools Week! We have been celebrating all week long! On Sunday, the kids sang "Song of Isaiah" with our adult choir. It was a beautiful song and it nearly brought me to tears.
     Surely it is God who save me;
     I will trust in Him and not be afraid.
     For the Lord is my stronghold and my sure defense,
     And He will be my Savior.

Monday was 1962 day, as we are also celebrating the fifty year anniversary of our school. I went in to help serve breakfast for lunch for the students.

Tuesday was crazy hair and hat day. We did up Hailey's hair with pipe cleaners, but apparently she panicked upon arriving at school and insisted that Matt take out one of her braids. I'm not sure how half of her hair down and half of her hair in a crazy braid was better, but that is how she wore it all day. Good thing it was crazy hair day :) Tuesday night we went to Bandmania, the kids get to see, hear, and even try many different instruments and then the community band plays a concert. We only heard two songs of the concert though because we needed to get home to get tired kids in bed. Micah and Mari had both skipped their afternoon naps and were done for the day.

I know NLSW is a lot for the teachers; extra time at school and crazy kids, but Hailey has had so much fun. They are having penny wars to raise money for the Lutheran Malaria Initiative and Hailey has been doing chores around the house to earn money to take to school...but as her teacher said, it isn't about winning, it's about loving.

I love Lutheran Schools!

  1. My sister's 5 year old goes to a Lutheran School, and I LOVE it! I take him & pick him up from school, and I am always impressed with all the things they have going on or simply hearing christian songs being sung by the students. AWESOME! They, too, are celebrating this week.

    I LOVE the picture of Hailey...she is adorable. I'm glad she is having fun this week!
