Hailey participated in her school's Young Authors program and today after chapel they handed out the awards. She got a participation ribbon for her story, My Trip to the Dentist. She was so proud standing up there with the other authors which was the main reason I wanted her to participate. I must admit I had to remind myself of that though. It was so hard for me to step back and let her come up with the story idea and not "fix" everything. I have a sometimes unhealthy desire to be the best and to have my children be the best. But on the outside, I succeeded in letting this be her project, one that she did her best on, even though it wasn't the best. On the inside I still battled, though. I have a feeling that this won't go away easily, my pride will continue to rear its ugly head on this issue.
I hope that my issues doesn't take away from her book which I am about to share because I am truly proud of the work that she did on this and I want her to enjoy writing.
