Epiphany

Friday was Epiphany - the remembrance of the wise men visiting Jesus and bringing their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. At school, Hailey followed the star to find baby Jesus. At home, I decided to make a Three Kings Cake. The recipes for a traditional Three Kings Cakes were so far from anything my children would eat, so I ended up just making a regular box cake in a bundt pan (looks like a crown). Tradition also has a baby hidden in the cake - I didn't have a baby, so I hid a bean. Matt found it in his piece. It was a fun tradition to end the Christmas Season and I would like to do it again next year. The kids were really excited about the cake too. Though Micah, shockingly enough, wouldn't try it. I think I need to learn some more about the history of this practice if we are going to make it a part of our family traditions.

Saturday we took down our Christmas tree and all of our decorations. Hailey and Micah were sad to see the tree go and Micah is already asking when we will get a new one.
