This is one of our family's favorite dinners and has been for a long time. It is a recipe from Matt's family and I've been making it since we were married. I used to pride myself on being able to make a leak-proof sandwich, but I seem to have lost my touch along the way. Oh well, they are still very yummy!
Spicy Loaf Sandwich
2 -1 lb. frozen bread dough, thawed
1/2 lb. sliced ham
1/2 lb. sliced salami
1/2 lb. thinly sliced provolone cheese
sliced pepperoni
Roll out thawed bread dough into a 10 x 13" rectangle. Layer ham, salami, pepperoni, and cheese down the center of the dough. Fold the sides of dough over filling and seal the seams. Tuck ends and seal the seams. Turn seam side down in a rimmed baking sheet. Repeat with second sandwich, and the sandwiches should be able to share a baking sheet. Cover and let rise for 1 - 1 1/2 hours. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes until golden brown. Let stand 10 minutes before slicing.
Tips: You can line your baking sheet with foil to minimize the mess if you desire. You can play with the fillings in these sandwiches; really anything goes. We slice them into thin strips, and the ends are the best - a fabulous bread pocket of melted cheese. We always make two sandwiches because they make fabulous leftovers.
