Here's a fun fact...the Cardinals have had World Series Victories in 2006 and 2011 - the years each of our girls were born, respectively. I'm not really sure what the means, but it is an interesting bit of trivia.
Another fun fact is that this post season introduced St. Louis fans to Rally Squirrel. According to Wikipedia, "Rally Squirrel is the name given to an American gray squirrel which appeared on the field and ran across home plate at Busch Stadium during a 2011 National League Division Series. Major League Baseball game between the Philadelphia Phillies and St. Louis Cardinals on October 5, 2011. The squirrel captured American media attention, and was adopted as an unofficial mascot by the Cardinals and the populace of St. Louis. The Cardinals would go on to win the 2011 World Series."
At our house we have our own squirrel, but it is definitely not Rally Squirrel. It is more like "nuisance squirrel," or "aggravating squirrel," or "if that squirrel gets into the garbage one more time, I'm gonna....squirrel," It is fat and it will not leave us alone. Last week it pulled some trash out of the garbage can overnight. I cleaned it up, and put the lid back on the garbage can. Later that afternoon when I went out, the squirrel had destroyed the lid - biting through the plastic and making itself a hole to climb in and out of the garbage. It also decimated our pumpkins and ate the faces off of our jack-o-lanterns. When I would pull in the drive he would scramble out of the garbage can, jump over the fence and run around to the front porch and start eating the pumpkins. Then I would shoo him away from the pumpkins and he would either go back to the garbage can or climb a nearby tree and just wait until the coast was clear so that he could eat more pumpkin. What a mess.
| Here he is enjoying the last little bits of pumpkin left on our porch. At least he'll clean them up for us. |

Hmmmmm...maybe some tasty poison left in the trash can. Just sayin'...
ReplyDeleteMy parents had a squirrel visitor in their garage one year...even came back after they had animal control come and get it and release it at a nearby forest preserve...the only thing that kindly got him to leave was playing hard rock music for a week non stop...
