Part of my issue with Halloween is the costumes. I guess I wouldn't mind spending a little money buying or making a costume that would get used, but my kids generally don't play dress up and I have a hard time shelling out big bucks (and big bucks for me here is really anything over $5) for a one-time deal. So we scrounged.
Micah was given a dinosaur costume in a bag of hand-me-down clothes.
Hailey kept changing her mind...first we were going to try making a Jessie from toy story costume, then she changed her mind and wanted to be Rapunzel. When I couldn't find an old purple dance costume at my mom and dad's, she chose an old Pammy the Panda costume that was mine when I was little. Anyone remember Shirt Tales??? Neither do I. I did end up spending $10 on black sweats to wear under the costume, but I figure she can wear those this winter.
Mari was an adorable giraffe - a costume we borrowed from my sister. Nevermind that it was size 0-3 months and she couldn't fully extend her legs... it was just for a few hours right? She didn't seem to mind the lack of full extension and it was really more snug than restricting.
The kids mostly had fun trick or treating. Micah got scared once by some kid in a hideous red devilish/evil glowing masked costume and literally began screaming. He is now forever scarred and will have nightmares henceforth. One of the other reasons I'm not a big Halloween fan.
Oh well - I do like pumpkin carving so there is that...
And of course I like candy...but I really don't need that. Oh well, till next year I guess.

My sisterinlaw still has a stuffed Pammy that she slept with for years. Love the costume.
