Parent-Teacher Conference

Matt and I went to our first real parent-teacher conference for Hailey on Thursday morning. It went very well and we are so proud of the hard work Hailey is doing in kindergarten. She has grown immensely since school began in August. I feel like she's beginning to find her voice.

The letter she wrote to us as a surprise for our conference. Her teacher said she was very proud of putting our initials on the heads of the people she drew.
I have noticed that while she is still quiet in new situations and with new people, she is much more willing to engage in conversations and in new activities. Hailey's school recently had a Harvest Festival in which there was a family dance. We attended this last year and were completely unsuccessful at convincing Hailey to dance. This year, however, she had a blast doing the Hokey Pokey, the YMCA, the Chicken Dance, the train, and just dancing. It was so fun to watch and I'm so excited to see how she blossoms and grows. She is also answering questions from "strangers" with a lot less prompting from me.

Academically she is learning and growing everyday. She has gone from not knowing all the letter sounds, to being able to sound out, spell, write, and read a number of words. She enjoys some aspects of math, including patterns, but needs to continue to work on her numbers. We couldn't be prouder.
