We had a wonderful Christmas. This year, we decided to lay low for Christmas Eve and enjoy some time as a family. Matt needs to be at all three of our church's Christmas Eve Services so it makes travel on that day impossible for him. Last year, I took the kids to my extended family celebrations; 2+ hours away and back. This year I opted out of the solo travel. We did our Christmas and spent the day playing.
Matt has been wanting to do a Nerf blaster Christmas and this year I decided that Hailey and Micah were old enough. We bought four automatic Nerf blasters. Hailey wasn't too excited when she opened her gift; I believe she made a comment about this not being on her list. She was soon a convert though and we spent a good portion of the day engaged in a family battle.
We headed to church around 4 and brought dinner with us.We ate at church after the first service because Matt didn't have time to come home before the 6:30 service. It was a wonderful day.
Christmas Day we headed off to Matt's mom and dad's for Christmas with his family. We had great food and a great time with them. We finished our book, Jotham's Journey, and read the Christmas Story from Micah's new Bible (the Story Bible by CPH).
On Monday, we woke up at my mom and dad's for Christmas with my family. We had the kids open gifts in the morning, ate a wonderful lunch, and then we opened gifts in the afternoon. As usual we had a great time together.
