The ABC’s of 2011
A is for Amanda. She has been involved in Mother’s Hour, accomplished a few sewing projects this year, and has been busy taking care of Hailey, Micah, and Mari.
B is for Book Club. This fall Amanda began hosting a book club at our church. It has been a lot of fun reading and discussing a variety of books.
C is for Crawling. Mari is now mobile! She began army crawling about a month ago and is starting to get into everything.
D is for Dentist. Hailey had her first second third trip to the dentist this year in preparation for kindergarten. Let’s just say it took a few tries, a pediatric dentist, a bribe, and some screaming to get it accomplished.
E is for Excitement. In case you missed it the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series again this year! Talk about exciting!
F is for Family. We are really enjoying being so close to our families. It is wonderful to see them often and our kids love going to visit their grandmas and papas.
G is for Garden. Our garden did very well this year allowing us to learn a little more about home canning. We canned some great salsa and tomato sauce.
H is for Home. We are blessed to have a wonderful house that we really enjoy. We are slowly tackling projects and putting our stamp on our home.
I is for Ice cream. An absolute favorite treat for almost everyone in our house. Micah would be the exception. I keep thinking that will change eventually given that he is our son.
J is for Jesus. The reason we celebrate Christmas!
K is for Kindergarten. Hailey started kindergarten this fall and is really enjoying it. She is well on her way to being a reader.
L is for Lincoln . This summer we spend a little time playing tourist in Springfield with our friends the Harveys and enjoyed learning about Abraham Lincoln.
M is for Mariana Ellen. Miss Mari was born March 18th and has greatly blessed our lives. We are smitten.
N is for Nephews. We are now up to six nephews and no nieces. It’s so much fun to spend time together and Hailey and Micah love playing with their cousins.
O is for Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and School. It’s where we spend most of our time outside of home. We are blessed to be a part of a wonderful church and school community. Matt works hard running the youth group, teaching classes, and variety of other things.
P is for Pampered Chef. It is Amanda’s home business and if you ever need or want anything don’t hesitate to ask. www.pamperedchef.biz/amandawink
Q is for Quiet. What our house is not! With Hailey at school five days a week, I thought things would be quieter. Instead, I have learned that Mr. Micah is quite the chatterbox!
R is for Rejoice. This is the inspiration for Amanda’s blog, http://www.amandawillrejoice.blogspot.com/ Check it out for all the latest updates about our family.
S is for Sleep. As parents of young children, sleep is a precious commodity. And it seems as if they conspire against us. As soon as we get one sleeping through the night, another one starts waking up regularly.
T is for Three. That is how old Micah is now. He is such a fun little boy with a great imagination. He is anxious to start school next fall, but for now he is semi-content to go to Sunday School and twice a month to our Mother’s Hour group.
U is for UKANDU. Matt once again took a group to Chicago for the UKANDU mission trip. They had a great week serving God through serving others.
V is for Van. In late spring, we were able to purchase a new-to-us minivan, making us a two minivan family! Woo Hoo!
W is for Hailey W; Hailey’s new official name since there is a Hailey N. in her class at school.
XY&Z are the end of the alphabet and the end of this letter and frankly we’d be stretching it to come up with words for X and Z. So instead we thought we would share the joy and excitement of the Christmas Season by reminding you of the wonderful celebration of Jesus’ birth. Not just a baby, but our Savior coming to fulfill God’s plan to save His people with His only son’s death and resurrection. May this truth uplift and uphold you throughout Christmas and the coming year.
Merry Christmas with Love,
Matt and Amanda
Hailey, Micah, and Mariana
