The Party

He's three!
Saturday we had Micah's birthday party at our house. Due to the rough week we decided to just go ahead and order pizza instead of trying to make a bunch of food. I think it was a good choice. However, we did still plan on making Micah's cake. He had requested a Mater cake - as in Tow-mater from Cars. I baked the cake on Friday and Matt assembled and decorated it on Saturday morning. I think it turned out really awesome! I think it ranks up there, just below the caterpillar cake. To see our other cake creations click here.

It was a gorgeous fall day and the big kids played outside throwing leaves at each other, running around, and playing air hockey. The littles hung out inside practicing on the two steps that go down into our family room. It was a great party and I love getting together with my family. We now have 4 nephews on my side and two on Matt's side - so add our three and we had nine kiddos five and under playing hard all day!

The post party was a little rough. Poor Micah was utterly exhausted. He fell asleep quickly, but woke up a couple of hours later sobbing and in pain. His legs were hurting and he was almost inconsolable. My diagnosis was growing pains, something I remember struggling with as a child. I offered him a little medicine to help him settle down and ease his discomfort and he initially refused. So we tucked him back in and left his room. A little while later he came out and asked for the medicine. All of the sudden he stopped sobbing and stated, "Well, that should help," took his medicine and went back to sleep.

  1. Micah...you are too, too cute! The medicine comment had me giggling out loud.
