Pumpkin Festival

Last week was my hometown's annual Pumpkin Festival. It is an event that holds a special place in my heart; a tradition that I look forward to each and every year. When I was younger it was all about the rides, now it is all about the rides, but not for me, for my children. They had such a wonderful time at the Pumpkin Festival this year.

Matt had a busy weekend, so he was unable to join us; but on Friday I took the kids with my parents, and my sisters, their husbands, and children. We let the kids ride the rides for a while, then had a bite to eat (I had a corn dog!), we finished using up our ride tickets and then got in the massive line for pumpkin desserts. I got to take the big kids on the carousel, on the spinning pumpkins, and I took Hailey on the big slide. I think their favorite ride this year was the "Wiggly Worm."

True confession: Until this year I had never had the pumpkin ice cream. I had tried a bite from time to time, but this was my first official pumpkin ice cream cone. It was so good! I can't believe all of the years I've missed out on. Hailey even tried a few licks of my cone and enjoyed it.

On Saturday we got up to go have pumpkin pancakes. They were delicious as usual and Micah ate three. We then wandered through the craft sale and I bought Hailey a headband and my mom bought Mari a pumpkin hat from my cousin's booth. Finally we enjoyed the parade. It was fun to watch the kids watch the parade. Micah was really into it this year and was running around picking up candy and watching with such excitement. See you next year Pumpkin Festival!

  1. Yay!! Fun memories made!! I still enjoy memories of the weekend the small walcamp crew joined you...lots of fun and yummy food. We head up north to my hometown every year for their annual 'flambeau rama'...a family tradition since before I was born. Always lots of rides and good food...and a chance to catch up with good friends. Glad you were able to enjoy it again!
