The Weekend

Whew! I'm exhausted, it has been a busy, busy weekend. Unfortunately, I feel as if I have accomplished very little. I spent all day Friday baking for a bake sale on Saturday. I made 8 dozen pumpkin cookies and four loaves of bread. And I actually kept up with the dishes...until the end of the day. Matt ended up having to work late and since the kids and I were all grumpy I decided a little retail therapy was in order. Actually we had a Target gift card so we went to get each of the kids new shirts.

*a little side note, I experienced the first "shopping battle" with Hailey...we definitely can have differing opinions on what we like. This could get really fun as she gets older :)

Saturday was our school's craft fair and Matt and the youth were in charge of a bake sale (thus my baking on Friday), the concessions, and the first day of the pumpkin patch the youth are holding for the next two weeks. Since I knew Matt would be running around all day, I decided that the kids and I would go to the craft fair and then head to my parent's house to scrounge for halloween costumes.

I'm not sure our trip panned out exactly the way I pictured in my head. The costumes we picked up from my sister are a little bit snug on Mari and I couldn't find the purple dance costume I that I was looking for at my mom and dad's. But, Hailey was happy to change gears and picked a different costume from the dress up stuff and my parent's house. And we got to spend time with my sister and my parents. That part made the trip worth it, even though I still don't have all the costumes completely figured out.

Sunday was Sunday School and church. Then we went to the youth pumpkin patch and picked out several pumpkins. We took one pumpkin to Matt's great aunt and uncle who live nearby and then Matt was back to church for the rest of the day. We went in to work the pumpkin patch for an hour and a half after nap time, then it was home for dinner, bath, and bed. Whew!

I should be cleaned last night (yes the mess from Friday is still there), but I was beat and over the course of the day I had been sneezing and sniffling more and more. I'm shocked I was even able to put together an coherent sentence.
