Last night we went to the Back to School Carnival at Hailey's school. Well actually I took the kids, Matt went and took the first shift in the dunk tank and then had to leave for his softball games. Sometimes the single parenting thing gets a little old, and this was one night where it would have been nice to have a partner. Hailey and Micah were not interested in doing the same activities and I'm not real comfortable letting Hailey run off on her "own" yet. So I was dragging around a stroller, trying to keep both of them semi happy, and failing. I was ready to leave 45 minutes into the whole thing, but we got a bite to eat (Matt did help get food), and things improved.
Hailey and Micah were first up to try and dunk daddy. But the tank wasn't working correctly; they sent him in anyway and then had to spend some time fixing it.
Micah was all about the bounce house, while Hailey just wanted to play of the playground she plays on every day at school. Micah also insisted on getting his face painted right before we left.
We got home late, but I was able to have a few very nice conversations with some people and Hailey and Micah did end up enjoying themselves as well.
