On Saturday we had Hailey's 5th Birthday party at our house. It was definitely and interesting event. On Friday, we went out for pizza, played a round of mini golf, and had ice cream. After dropping us off at home, Matt went to his softball game. He got home about 9:30, walked into the family room and announced that he had a 102 degree fever. Just great. The cake was in pieces on the table, the meat wasn't cooked, there was grocery shopping to do, not to mention that we were now asking our family to come over to our "contaminated" house.
After getting the pork loin started in the roaster, I went to the grocery store to finish up the shopping. Of course I left my wallet at home and had to make two trips. Then I went to a second store because I couldn't find the seasoning packets I needed for the pulled pork. I struck out there too and had a slight meltdown in the store. Lovely.

Saturday morning Matt came home from prompt care with an antibiotic and a diagnosis - strep. He was quarantined in our room and I called up reinforcements in the form of my mom, mother-in-law, and sister. I had to decorate the cake - that is Matt's thing normally so I sort of winged it. I think it turned out alright, Hailey liked it.
Thankfully the party was just immediate family so no one really cared that the house was a mess and everyone pitched in to get the food ready. The older three and George swam in our backyard pool while the adults sat around talking, and the twins and papas napped. All in all it was a low key and enjoyable afternoon.
It was definitely a
stressful memorable day! Thank you everyone for making Hailey's day!
The aftermath... I left the room about 6:00 to go make dinner and when it was ready this is what I found!
