The Upgrade

I have put off this post for a week now, just trying to sort out my feelings about our recent "upgrade."

My dear baseball, basketball, football loving husband has endured season after season of listening to games on the radio, watching the "dots" on the computer, and just missing the games. [insert pity party here] Therefore, he really wanted a new TV and cable, something we have not had for several years.

I however, didn't really care about our TV or lack of channels, though the fact that our antenna was no longer picking up NBC or PBS was a little annoying.

Well, I caved, we have found ourselves in position to afford such an upgrade and so my hubby got his flat screen TV and satellite in the family room and in his garage, aka "man cave." Just so you know, we have a rather large four car piggyback garage that Matt is developing into his hang out space - as well as a place for our vehicles.

Design of this area is far from complete, but this is what it looks like now.
While I'm still not certain that the TV and satellite are completely necessary, I have been enjoying some of of the new technology. We have DVR for the first time and I have been recording a ton of movies during our three free months of movie channels. I think it is so cool that you can pause live TV and that I can watch some of my favorite shows when it is convenient for me, not when it is on. And I must admit I've been enjoying all of the cooking shows on the Food Network - go figure :)

So happy anniversary and happy birthday and Merry Christmas and happy valentine's day and...enjoy your games honey!

  1. Matt finally got his way. So did I when our TV died a couple months ago. You should tell Matt to ask for a sound bar for Christmas. We have a wireless one that is easy peasy to set up and truly gives a surround sound...sound.

    Enjoy!

  2. The DVR is a marriage saver for us. The ability to pause live TV is key when he's in the middle of the game and I really need kiddo help. He can always catch up during the next commercial break. And I adore not having to watch commercials anymore. We barely watch anything live these days. Helps to cut out the IWants!
